Safety Considerations for Motorized Commercial and Industrial Doors:

Large commercial doors have special safety considerations that should be taken into account as a part of the overall door safety system. Model #ME113 is designed for use on 1-5/8 inch thick doors and are custom manufactured to required length. Our Sensing Edges are designed to provide a safe means of stopping and reversing a door’s motion. Typically powered by just 24 volts, electrically activated Sensing Edges are attached to the leading edge of the door. When touch activated, the internal sensor sends a signal to the motor to stop and/or reverse motion.

How It Works

The ME113 slide in style edge is designed to install easily on most 1-3/8” to 1-5/8” thick sectional doors. Most sectional doors of this size will accept the t-configuration in their existing bottom extrusion- simply slide out the weather seal and slid in the ME-113 Sensing Edge. For your convenience, we also offer a variety of mounting channel options for easy installation.

Safety Standards and Codes for Motorized

Effective August 29, 2010, Underwriters Laboratories required that all commercial door operators bearing the UL label are required to be installed with a continuously monitored safety device.

Since 2009, the International Building Code (IBC-2009) has required compliance with the current UL325 safety standard.
